From the end of drums through the end of NFA is probably my favorite 40 minutes of Grateful Dead in existence. Spectacular version of The Other One and a St. Stephen for the ages. The jam in this song could well be my favorite GD jam ever. It's bubbling over with joyfulness.

3rd row,3rd seat. Billy K pointed at me and said "He going to go nuts" as they started the 2nd set jam. Bobby played my request for Jack Straw.
Best part of show was watching the rest of the band sit down and listen to Jerry doodling in space as it lead up to Close Encounters. Watching the smirk on Jerry's face as he looked up for a second and realized where he was going to take Close En. Listen as Jerry starts St Stephen. Nobody is playing. Phil looked upset that Jerry would start it without him. The jam at the end of St Stephen is the high point of the show.

A great aud recording, just eq a little bit and crank it up LOUD and you're there. The show is outstanding and creative. Jerry and company are on it. The Other One> Jerry Solo is especially nice as is the Terrapin> drums. Love it. I took one star off for recording quality picky bastard that I am.

re: the cycle of folk songs comprising the grateful dead
Dear life with the grateful dead,
Thanks for helping me out with the arrangements.
You might like to know I've developed as a musician
maybe not "in my own right" as "at my own rite".
always real gravy jamming with you.

Such a glorious St Stephen solo here. Listen close to how Phil maps out the trail and how fast Jerry picks it up and zooms down it.
Purple Gel makes a good point...this St begins with the riff as opposed to the two opening pindrop notes. Can't say I've ever heard that either.
Always love the Row Jimmy.

Great show. Excellent sound quality, vocal and instrumental performances. The Dead at their best!!! Jerry is loose and innovative, reaching for new territory throughout. Donna's vocals are beautiful and clear. Just a barn burner foot stomper of a show. Had me laughing and cheering!

The band is real tight. The sound quality great. Listen to Tennesee Jed. Turn it up loud! Just when you think Jerry reaches a high point, he picks it up even more. It will give you goosebumps. It feels like you are there and reminds you of why you became a Deadhead.

This is a true classic, especially the second set. terrapin is strong, The other one is one of the best ever. The close encounter Jam is Jerry at his best and the transition into a great St Stephen is absolutely awesome and powerful. this is the only St Stephen I know that does not start with the slow intro, it just goes straight into the great St Stephen lick.

What happened to all the full show downloads? Why can we only stream now. I was on this site only a few weeks ago and there were tons of format options for every show. What happened??!!

This is a great AUD, good clear sound and plenty of hoots from the appreciative faithful without the unnerving bickering. Decent set list well played. This show made GDLive top 100. Also, there is a alternate source available through deadvines. That is made primarily from sdb and is supposed to have more kick. I haven't received it as of this writing
